Being Consumed

Photo from a road trip across America in 2010

I've been thinking a lot lately about how where I live shapes who I am. When I was abroad I didn't shop nearly as much, and didn't consume nearly as much. But I was so much happier. Instead, I invested in people, relationships, and weekend trips that created memories. Being back in America, all I can think about is earning more money and having the next best thing. I'm honestly afraid to live a country that thrives on this mentality! I don't think I'm strong enough to fight against it.

John Moore Speaks On His time Covering The Arab Uprisings

Combat photography is something that is truly an art on it's own. War is a place where humanity rises and falls. Where death is a salty taste, and emotion is at is rawest form. The photographers that capture these moments are ordained with the most sacred stories one can ever cover.

In this video combat photographer John Moore speaks about his time covering the Arab Uprisings in the Middle East, specifically in Egypt, Bahrain, and Libya.

Life.

First
Second
Third

I graduate in May. That is 10 weeks away. This past week was Spring break. I did a lot of thinking over this time. Where I'm going to live, how I'm going to support myself, when I'll be able to be where I want to be, etc. Travel is one of the main things I don't want to loose sight of. It's what gives me inspiration, creativity; it opens my eyes and broadens my worldview and touches a place in me that otherwise isn't there. But to make that all happen I need a job. I need a place to live, and food to eat. But I still want to go out and have fun in the meantime. It's a balance I haven't found yet. Life is so complicated.

A Little About Myself

I've never really done these "tag" things before, but sometimes it's nice to have a little introspection. My friend Marisa first wrote her's here and then wrote some questions for me to answer, so here they are.

Parisian Engagement

I'm sorry, but a Parisian engagement will always be a keeper in my book. The background is just stunning!

Anne Frank Museum

Right after I arrive in Amsterdam I would head straight for the Anne Frank Museum after dropping off my bags.

Documentary on Photojournalists

This exposing short documentary on photojournalists gives an honest look at the challenging profession. While the focus of this film is a bit narrow, it still gives a slice of what life is like with a camera on the road.

Two Weeks In Tuscany

I wonder what it's like to live surrounded by such beauty and history. Today in America we only have modern buildings and work cities. While they each have their own distinct charm, there's something totally different about Europe. I bet its inspiring.

Old Ruins

This is a photo of the Warkworth Castle in the North East of England

I have SUCH a weakness for old ruins. I think studying abroad in Jerusalem, Israel Palestine had something to do with that. For some reason I can just feel the stories and the history when I'm there. I never want to leave!
