Life's A Blast

As you know, my time spent in Israel Palestine gave me a certain weak spot for this area of the world. Linda Forsell has been to this country several times between 2008-2010 and now she's compiled her images into a book. Check out the photos here. They're totally worth it.

Excuse The Dust

If you've visited the blog in the past 72 hours, you might know things have been looking a little funky around here. I've been messing around with some of the coding for another blog and was test-running it here. But things are all back to normal and blogging will resume!

Basket Weave

Finding these baskets basically made my night. Not only are they stunning and handmade, but they are preserving a cultural traditional and at the same time promoting economic and financial independency and stability.

However, sometimes it seems like there are a lot of shops like this out there. Organizations and people who claim to support families and individuals in Africa by taking their baskets and selling them abroad. While that does sound a bit idealistic and naive to me, I do like to do conscious shopping and support where I can. What are your thoughts on consumer shopping such as this?

Mela & Roam

Wouldn't we all love to do what Courtney's able to do? Travel to far away lands and bring back the goods? It makes me want to head back over to the Middle East (my place of choice) with a couple empty suitcases waiting to bring back treasures of colors, textures, and filled with stories.

This elephant is too cute to handle, and that chair would go perfect with a new desk!
